
The CPT or Common Proficiency Test is the first level of examination for students who wish to pursue a career in chartered accountancy. The test is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). It is a two-hour long objective type examination consisting of 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) split evenly across 4 sections. CPT has been made mandatory for every student desiring to enroll in ICAI’s CA course from 1st July 2017 onwards. Candidates who qualify CPT are eligible to appear for next level i.e. Professional Competence Examination (PCE)/Integrated Professional Competence Examination (IPCE).
