The Union Minister for Social Justice, Dr. Virendra Kumar, said on Thursday that the first part of the SC Post Matric Scholarship will be given out on December 6, 2021. He also said that the scholarship will be paid out on the 66th anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s death. This year, 5,000 billion rupees will be sent directly to the bank accounts of 10 million students who are part of this scholarship programme.

More money for SC Post-Matric Scholarships
The people who apply for this scholarship will receive the following extras:
- Disabled students can get a monthly transportation allowance of up to Rs.160 if they don’t live in the school’s hostel, which is on the same grounds as the school. The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights, and Full Participation) Act of 1995 says that someone is disabled if they are blind, have low vision, have been cured of leprosy, have trouble hearing, can’t move around well, have mental retardation, or have a mental illness.
- Escort Allowance of Rs.160/- per month for severely disabled day students with disabilities in their lower extremities.
- Special pay of Rs.160/- per month is given to any employee of the hostel who helps a severely disabled student who lives in the hostel of an educational institution and needs the help of a helper.
- Allowance of Rs.240/- per month for extra tutoring for students with mental retardation or mental illness.
- Scholars will be given money for enrollment/registration, tuition, games, the Union, the Library, magazines, medical exams, and any other fees they have to pay to the institution or University/Board. But deposits that can be returned, like caution money and security deposits, will not be included.
- If the head of the institution certifies that the study tour is necessary for the scholar to finish his or her course of study, the student will be reimbursed up to a maximum of Rs. 1600 per year for study tour costs. This amount is based on the actual costs the student incurred for things like transportation.
- On the recommendation of the Head of the Institution, research scholars will receive up to Rs. 1600 to cover the costs of typing and printing their theses.
- In addition to getting their course fees paid back, students in these programmes can also get an annual allowance of Rs.1200/- to spend on essential or required books.
Criteria for eligibility
For the applicant to be eligible for the scholarship, he or she must meet the following requirements:
- The scholarships are available to people who live in India.
- With these exceptions: “Scholarships are not given for training courses like Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Courses and Private Pilot licence Courses.” Courses at Training – Ship Dufferin (Now Rajendra), Courses at Military College, Dehradun, Courses at Pre-examination Training Centres of all India and State levels.”
- Only candidates who belong to the Scheduled Castes listed for the State/Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. has permanently settled, and who have passed the Matriculation or Higher Secondary or any higher examination from a recognised University or Board of Secondary Education will be eligible.
- Candidates who, after finishing one level of education, are studying in the same level of education in different subjects, such as I.Sc. after I.A. or B.Com. after B.A. or M.A. in other subjects, will not be eligible.
- Students who have already finished their education in one field (like LLB after B.T./B.Ed.) will not be able to apply. Since the 1980–81 school year, students can take two professional courses at the same time.
- Students in the XII Class of the Multipurpose High School who are in Class XI of the Higher Secondary School will not be able to take it as a continuous school course. But if the Xth class exam of such courses is treated as equivalent to Matriculation and students join other courses after passing Xth class, they will be considered post-matric students and be eligible for scholarships.
- Students taking Post-Graduate courses in medicine will be eligible if they are not allowed to practise during their course.
- Students who join recognised professional or technical certificate, diploma, or degree programmes after failing or passing their undergraduate or postgraduate exams in Arts, Science, or Commerce will be given scholarships if they are otherwise eligible. Except for courses in Group “I,” you won’t be able to fail again.
- Students who take classes by mail are also eligible. Distance and ongoing education are both included in the word “correspondence.”
- Employed students whose combined income with that of their parents or guardians doesn’t go over the maximum limit set by the government are eligible for post-matric scholarships that cover all fees that they have to pay but can’t get back.
- All of the children of the same parents or guardians will be able to get help from the programme.
- A person who gets a scholarship through this programme can’t get any other scholarships or stipends.
How long the plan will last
The scholarship programme will be open to the following people for the following times:
- The award will be valid from the time it is given until the end of the course, as long as the student is good and goes to class every day. It will be renewed every year as long as the scholar gets promoted to the next higher class within a course that lasts for a number of years. This is true whether the exams are given by a University or the Institution.
How to Choose Winners of SC Post-Matric Scholarships

The SC Post-Matric Scholarship Will Be Renewed
The scholarship will be renewed according to the rules listed below:
- Once a scholarship is given, it can be renewed by the concerned State Government or Union Territory Administration for the next academic year, unless the school’s proper authority asks the State Government or Union Territory Administration to stop giving the scholarship based on clauses in the rules for the scheme.
Documents Required
For the candidates to be eligible for the scholarship, they must send in the following items:
- One copy of the scholarship application in the form that was given (the concerned States/UTs have given different application forms for “fresh” and “renewal” scholarships).
- One copy of the student’s passport-sized picture with his or her signature on it (for fresh scholarship).
- One copy of all certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc., that show you passed an exam, which has been notarized.
- A certificate of caste (in its original form) that has been signed by a revenue officer with the rank of Tehsildar or higher.
- Parents or guardians who are self-employed must sign an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper that says how much money they make from all sources. Parents or guardians who work must get a certificate of income from their employer. If they have extra income from other sources, they must sign an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper to say so.
- If the applicant received a scholarship under this scheme the year before, the Head of the Institution concerned will only sign a receipt acknowledging the scholarship on the form that is attached to the application.
