- The Commission looks over the applications and chooses which ones to accept.
- The final choice will depend on what the Commission decides.
- The Commission is allowed to take back or cancel the award without saying why.
- After these things are done, the supervisor or head of the department will sign the candidate’s Joining Report.
- The Registrar, Director, or Principal will send it to the UGC.
- When the Joining Report and other required documents are sent, the first-year admissible grant is paid out.
- This grant comes from the money that the Commission has set aside for this purpose.
- After getting the UGC approval/award letter, the fellows can then get the money from the institution or bank. Also, the Commission paid for other costs from the grants in line with the rules.
- The money for the fellowships will go straight into the bank accounts of the people who get them.
What you need to know
For the applicant to be eligible for this scholarship, he or she must follow these rules:
- The RGNF scheme will last for two years at first.
- Before the end of this time period, the Fellow’s work will be judged by a committee of three people. The Head of the Department, the Supervisor, and an outside subject expert make up the three people on this committee. These members will be chosen by the Department, University, or College in charge.
- Depending on how well the research goes, the job will be given more time. If the work is good, the position will be kept for 3 more years.
- The term will be extended because the Rajiv Gandhi National Senior Research Fellowship has better pay (RGNSRF).
- The Committee’s advice on how to raise the level of the RGNSRF will be sent to the UGC.
- The work status and time spent on fellowships from organisations other than the UGC will not be accepted. The fellowship information from UGC only talks about how to make fellowship more valuable.
- If the work isn’t good enough, the fellowship can be taken away. Also, if a candidate fails any of the tests for a Ph.D., he or she will not get the degree.
- If a candidate’s work in the first two years isn’t good enough, they will get an extra year to improve.
- During this time, the person will be known as a Rajiv Gandhi National Junior Research Fellow (RGNJRF).
- After the second year of the job, the work will be evaluated once more.
- If any changes were found, the Fellow would get two more years of support from the RGNSRF.
- So, the total amount of time for both fellowships (RGNJRF and RGNSRF) is five years, and there is no way to extend it.
