What is a LAMP’s purpose?
With a LAMP Fellowship, you can work with a Parliament Member as a mentor for 10 to 11 months. During the Fellowship, the Fellows will have the chance to talk to experts from many different fields and learn about the country’s most important policy and development issues. The fellows’ main job is to help the Member of Parliament they are assigned to with their research.
A lot of the research that a LAMP Fellow does will be related to Parliament, such as searching questions asked by an MP in Parliament, policy discussion, inputs for bills, and standing committee meetings. Fellows also have to do research for the conference and media events where MPs will be present. Some MPs may give their LAMP Fellows work related to their constituents, but the LAMP Fellow must agree to do this work with the MP.
