2008 was the first year for the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Ignite Awards. Since then, more than 200 students have won the award for their creative ideas or innovations. Students have to send in their entries to be in the running for the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Ignite Awards. Students up to the 12th grade can enter the competition with their creative technological ideas or innovations. You can also apply if you are a student in a field other than science, like the arts, business, etc. The idea the candidate puts forward should be his own. Common projects or ideas like hydropower projects, collecting rainwater, water level indicators, etc. are not allowed. Students can send in their ideas as a photo, video, or sketch. Students don’t have to send in their ideas in any particular way.
